Our lawful bases for the collection and use of your data
Our lawful bases for collecting or using personal information for student education and welfare are:
- Legal obligation – we have to collect or use your information so we can comply with the law. All of your data protection rights may apply, except the right to erasure, the right to object and the right to data portability.
- Legitimate interests – we’re collecting or using your information because it benefits you, our organisation or someone else, without causing an undue risk of harm to anyone. All of your data protection rights may apply, except the right to portability.
- Our legitimate interests are:
- I will collect the names and ages/school years of the students that I will be working with in my tutoring business, so that I can address the students by name and be able to pitch their lessons appropriate to their ages and Key Stages.
- I will collect parent’s names, telephone numbers and email addresses so that I can stay in contact with them during the duration of time that they remain a client with me.

- I will collect data about a student\’s mathematical academic progress at school, so that I can use this as a baseline for how I will pitch my lessons with them, and also to track progress over time. I will find out what exam board they use at school and what grade they are currently on. This is necessary so that I can make the right choices of resources to use in my lessons.
- I will write progress reports to parents, lesson-by-lesson so that they can see exactly what has been taught and how each session goes. This will be sent to parents via my business email address or via Whatsapp. I will not be sharing any information I collect with any third parties and will only use the data for the purposes described above.
- The only exception to this is if data needs to be shared for safeguarding purposes.

How long we keep information
Your data will only be kept for the length of time that your child is a student with Buildingblocks Maths Tutor. All data relating to parents, carers or students will be deleted immediately upon termination of their contract with Buildingblocks Maths Tutor.
