My name is Jo Barnes. I have over 20 years of Maths teaching experience, ranging from KS2 to KS4. I specialise in building student confidence in their maths abilities and aim to reduce any anxieties they may have around the subject.

I'm able to plan and deliver high quality, individualised, online or face-to-face Maths sessions. These sessions will help to build strong foundations in your child's mathematical knowledge, filling in any skills-gaps, and enabling your child to continue to grow successfully in their mathematical understanding.

As a mother, I fully understand the need for a calm and caring approach, when interacting with young people. My teaching style reflects this. I will endeavour to find out your child's individual needs, interests and learning goals and will plan each Maths lesson for them with these in mind.

Booking Information

Bookings

I am taking bookings for lessons from 1st August 2026.

Lesson times will be available Monday to Thursday in the daytimes and evenings. At the weekends, lessons will be available on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Booking Process

45min session rates can be negotiated on a client by client basis.

I will charge an extra £5 for every 15 mins of travel time, if I'm doing a lesson at a client's home.

I am fully DBS checked and have Public Liability Insurance.

I will email prospective clients a copy of my terms and conditions, which they will need to agree to before I start to work with their child.

Waiting Lists

When I am at capacity for tutees, I will keep a waiting list of any prospective clients.

Cancellation

Cancellation within 24h will incur the standard lesson fee.

I will try to accommodate you by rescheduling the lesson within that week, and generally have 'catchup' slots which I leave free at the weekend so that you needn't miss out.
